Part of my late-in-life musical education is having to go back to square one: Bartók's "Mikrokosmos" with piano exercises for kids, never mind decades of improvising on the keyboard but learning all the wrong techniques. And "don't look at your hands, look at the book!", Prof. Daniel Sonenberg insists. He encouraged me to write a simple one minute piano piece for myself, and I did. And I wrote another one, and another one, and then added a flute.
The result is the "D.I.Y. Series", 12 short pieces for children for piano and flute. Here they are, from very simple (1, 2, 3) to more elaborate (10, 11, 12). Enjoy.
