Do-It-Yourself Series
Part of my late-in-life musical education is having to go back to square one. That means: Bartók's "Mikrokosmos" Volume 1 with rudimentary piano exercises. Never mind decades of improvising on the keyboard and learning all the wrong techniques. And don't look at your hands, look at the book! Prof. Daniel Sonenberg encouraged me to write a simple one minute piano piece myself for myself, and I did. And I wrote another one, and another one, and then added a flute. The result is the "D.I.Y. Series", 12 short pieces for children for piano and flute all written directly in notation. Here's a number of them, from simple to more elaborate. Enjoy.
