"René Damen, Composer. Salieri's Fate (Sempre Secundo)

In this ensemble piece, I called “Salieri’s Fate” (6:35) I ask myself the question how Salieri, depicted in the movie Amadeus, at the age of seventy, twice the age when Mozart died, would look back on his career. If he was doomed to stay forever in the musical genius’s shadow and be forgotten, or would be forever remembered because of it. While writing, I realized I wanted Salieri's voice to be heard and then I knew it had to become a kind of mini oratorio.

This is a digital rendering (Vienna Symphonic Library). Creating this video allowed me to set the scene and to add the lyrics to the digital voices, of course incapable of singing those words.
